17. Finally: falsehood, oaths, slander, gossip, blasphemy, and any other such thing that is unfitting for humanity and Christianity—do not take them into your mouth at all, bearing in mind the counsel of the holy Apostle, who commandeth: *Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth* (Ephes. 4:29). But let all your speech be modest and pure, even as the same holy Apostle saith: *Let your speech be alway with grace of the Lord, seasoned as it were with salt* (Col. 4:6).
