[one] should not infer from the manner of speech what counsel they are taking. And whoever is not invited to the assembly, it is not proper for him to be curious and inquire as to the purpose for which the assembly was held, and how [matters] were settled.

CHAPTER XIII: Rule[s] of Conversation:

Just as a bell is known by its sound [whether] it is whole or cracked, so too a man is revealed by his speech, [whether] he is crude or polite, well-mannered or depraved. For a man’s tongue and mouth make plain whether his mind is enlightened or blind, and whether his heart has an inclination toward the good or toward the evil, as our Lord saith: *"Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh"* [Matt. 12:34]. 1.
