When someone hath begun to relate a matter, which same account thou likewise knowest, thou oughtest not to take [it] out of his mouth and relate [it] thyself; nor to interrupt his speech, saying, "I have perceived that thou art about to relate this matter; I have heard it, and I know [it]." Even though thou shouldst know it better than he, it is yet necessary to keep silence until he hath finished that which he hath begun, and then speak that which thou hast to say. 8. If in a company one person is speaking and the others are listening, thou also oughtest to listen. If by chance thou hast not understood a certain thing, have patience until he hath ended his speech; and then ask those sitting beside thee and inform thyself; or, begging pardon, ask him and understand. 9. If several persons should ask thee various things at one and the same time, look to see which of them is the most honorable, and give answer unto him first, and afterward unto the others.
