[...that we might] not give ear to the [false] doctrine, [and heed rather that] which admonisheth us to be good and virtuous; for the Apostle saith: *"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness"* [II Tim. 3:16]. 4. It is necessary that we listen to the sermon until it is concluded; for it proceedeth from a lack of love for spiritual things to leave the sermon half-finished on some vain pretext, and to go out of the church pushing and trampling upon the people. But if one hath urgent business or a physical infirmity, and hath not the time to listen to the entire sermon, it is well that he stand beforehand in such a place that, if he should go out before the sermon is finished, he may cause no distress or scandal to the people.
