He doth not corrupt the truth in his heart; if he giveth his word for a matter and taketh it upon himself, he turneth not back nor changeth, [but] standeth firm; [and] in all things he maintaineth verity and fidelity. 4. Every man desireth to obtain the truth-speaker for a friend and to associate with him, because for his own advantage he practiceth no flattery toward his friend, but ever speaketh the truth without partiality and without dissimulation. Therefore, whosoever maketh it his habit from childhood to speak the truth, in the time of [his] maturity likewise shall he be truth-speaking, steadfast, and faithful, and shall have credit and honor with all men. 4.
