But [a man] should not speak every truth he knoweth to every single person; for among those he meeteth, it is possible that there may be found a deceitful man, whose tongue is upright and heart is wicked, according to the common proverb; and of such a one it is necessary to beware. Wherefore Saint Yovhannēs the Evangelist saith: *‘Believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they be of God’* (1 John 4:1).
