...[he] upholdeth [him], and becometh his helper and support, so that he too may provide for his livelihood. For when these animals are to cross a great river, the strong swim ahead, and the weak, placing their heads upon the [heads of the] strong, gather strength, and swimming along with them, cross the river. Wherefore the Apostle saith: “We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak” (Rom. 15:[1]). 10. From the quail (*loramarg*, [that is, the] *bəldərcin*) one learneth love of fellow man, whereby one doth not become cruel and misanthropic like a wild and untamed beast; [such a one] doth not separate himself from the company of his nation and fellow citizens, [but rather] is found heartily united and cooperating with them in every counsel and work profitable to the nation. For this noble bird dearly loveth its kind, and always travelleth together [in flocks]. Wherefore also our Lord gave commandment unto the holy Apostles, and through them unto all Christians, saying: “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love [one another]...”
