He promiseth with His unfalsifying mouth to reward him who giveth [but] a cup of water to drink; how much more, then, shall He render worthy of exceeding great rewards one who doeth good unto a nation of millions? As He said in the Holy Gospel unto them that work beneficence: *“Great is your reward in heaven”* (Matt. 5:12). For even a single good deed of a man, however small it may be, is nevertheless not [accounted] as naught, but hath its recompense in return; even as the same Lord testified, saying: *“There shall not an hair of your head perish”* (Luke 21:18).
