NATIONAL CONSTITUTION OF THE ARMENIANS FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES [ARTICLE] I.

Every individual of the Nation hath obligations toward the Nation. The Nation, on its part, hath obligations toward each individual member of the nation. Likewise, every individual hath rights from the Nation, and the Nation from the individuals. Therefore, the Nation and the members of the nation are bound to one another by reciprocal duties, so that the obligations of the one are the rights of the other.

It is the duty of the members of the Nation to participate in the expenses required by the needs of the Nation, each according to the measure of his ability; to undertake willingly the services requested by the Nation; and to submit with love to the dispositions made by it. These obligations of the members of the Nation are the [legitimate] rights of the Nation.

The duty of the Nation is to take care of the moral, intellectual, and material needs of [its] compatriots; to preserve immaculate the confession of faith and traditions of the Armenian Church; [and to diffuse] the instruction of indispensable knowledge necessary for mankind unto children of every class, both boys and girls [to...]

REGULATION OF THE ARMENIAN NATION FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES ARTICLE THE FIRST

Just as each of the individuals of the Nation hath duties incumbent upon [him toward] the Nation, and the Nation likewise hath duties incumbent upon [it toward] each of those individuals, so too each of the said individuals hath rights [in respect] to the Nation, and the Nation likewise hath rights [in respect] to each of them. Consequently, since both the Nation and the individuals of the Nation are bound unto one another by mutual obligations, the duties incumbent upon the one [constitute] the rights of the other; that is to say, the duties incumbent upon the Nation [are] the rights of the individuals of the Nation, and likewise the duties incumbent upon the said individuals [are] the rights of the Nation.

ARTICLE FIFTH

The obligations incumbent upon the individuals of the nation consist of [the following] particulars: first, that each one participate according to his means in the expenses required for the national needs; secondly, that [each] undertake with willing consent the services demanded by the nation; thirdly, that [each] render obedience wholeheartedly to the established measures of the nation; and these obligations incumbent upon the said individuals are the rights of the nation.
