87. Էս բծերը ունին նմանութիւն ծաղկի Հետ և նրա պէս դուրս են տալի խիտ (սըխ) կամ` նօսր և ջոգուում` են ծաղկից երկու նշանով. առաջինը՝ ծաղկի դուրս տալուց յե- տոյ Հիւանդի տաքութիւնը քչանում է, բայց կարմրուկի դուրս տալուց յետոյ տաքութիւնը և տկարութեան միւս նշանները մնում են անփոփոխ և նոյն առաջին դրութեան մէջ. երկ- րորդը՝ ծաղկի դուրս տուած բծերը թարախ են բռնում`, բայց կարմրուկինը չեն բռնում`, ինչպէս վերևը յիշեցինք : 88. Կարմրուկը սկսում է դողացնելով, գլուխը ցաւելով, չոր Հա- զով և շուտ շուտ փռշտացնելով. էս նշանների Հետ աչքի կոպ- կերը ուռչում են աչքիցը նօսր թարախ և քնթիցը ջուրէ վազում : 89. Երրորդ կամ` չորրորդ օրը դուրս կ'տայ բոլոր մարմնոյ վերայ, մեծ մեծ և երբեմն էլ մանր մանր նշաններ, սկզբումը ջոկ ջոկ և Հեռու Հեռու, որոնք կարճ ժամանակից յետոյ կընդարձակուին և կըմիանան, բայց չեն բարձլանալ: Էս միջո- ցում` կուռչին աչքի կոպկերը : Վեցերորդ, կամ` եօթներորդ, կամ` ութերորդ օրը բիծերը կսկսին թեփի պէս վէր թափիլ: 90. Կարմրուկ ընկածին, թէ որ ուրիշ Հիւանդութեան նշաններ էլ չեն լուս ընկնում, դեղ անել պէտք չէ, միայն Հար- կաւոր է զգուշանալ, որ Հիւանդի պառկած տեղը ցուրտ չլինի և քամի չը բանի. Հազը քչացնելու Համար պէտք է խմացնել չայի պէս եփ տուած թանթրվենիի կամ` կակղիի, ջուրը կիսա- տաք կամ` 10 Համարաւ դեղից : 91. Եթէ մարմրուկը սկզբիցը որպիսի և իցէ պատճառով ներս քաշուի և էլ կրկին դուրս չտայ, էն ժամանակը կը ներ- գործէ թոքի կամ` աղիքների վրէն : Թէ թոքի վրէն ներգործէ, կը դժուարացնէ շնչառութիւնը. իսկ եթէ աղիքների վրէն՝ յառաջ կուգայ սաստիկ լուծմունք : Էսպէս պատաՀելիս ոչինչ Հնարք էնպէս շուտով չի օգնիլ, ինչպէս թթու խմորը մանա- նեխով կպցնելը կուրծքի վրէն, երբ շունչ քաշելը դժուար ըլի: Եթէ ունենայ լուծում, պէտք է թթու խմորը կպցնեն փորի վրէն, և վարուին ինչպէս որ գրուած է 36 յօդուածումը և խմացնեն կիսագոլ դեղ Համարաւ 10 : 92. 87. These spots bear a resemblance to smallpox and, like it, erupt either densely (*səkh*) or sparsely, and they are distinguished from smallpox by two signs: first, after the eruption of smallpox, the patient’s fever diminishes, but after the eruption of measles, the fever and the other symptoms of the illness remain unchanged and in the very same initial state; second, the erupted spots of smallpox gather pus, but those of measles do not gather [pus], as we mentioned above. 88. Measles begins with shivering, headache, a dry cough, and frequent sneezing; along with these symptoms, the eyelids swell, a thin pus runs from the eyes, and water runs from the nose. 89. On the third or fourth day, there will break out over the whole body large and sometimes small spots, at first separate and far apart, which after a short time will expand and join together, but will not become raised. During this time, the eyelids will swell. On the sixth, or seventh, or eighth day, the spots will begin to shed like bran [or dander]. 90. For one stricken with measles, if symptoms of another disease do not come to light, it is not necessary to administer medicine; it is only necessary to take care that the patient’s bedchamber is not cold and that no draft blows. To lessen the cough, one must give [the patient] to drink lukewarm water brewed like tea from elderberry or mallow, or medicine under Number 10. 91. If the measles [rash], for whatever reason, should strike inward from the start and not break out again, it will then affect the lungs or the bowels. If it affects the lungs, it will make breathing difficult; but if [it affects] the bowels, severe diarrhea will ensue. When this happens, no remedy will help so quickly as applying leavened dough with mustard to the chest when drawing breath is difficult. If there should be diarrhea, they must apply the leavened dough to the belly, and proceed as is written in article 36, and give [the patient] to drink lukewarm medicine under Number 10. 92. If it should happen that, while seized with another kind of affliction, there erupt spots like [those caused by] nettle stings, which successively—
