168. Those changes which are considered initial signs of pregnancy in women are not verified for everyone; it happens that in some they appear slightly and in a manner almost imperceptible. The latter occurreth especially to those who live freely and in ease.
169. Pregnancy [lit. being with two souls] is difficult to recognize until four months; it can only be guessed from the signs set down in Article 164. After four months, fainting [lit. heart failure/going away of the heart] befalleth the pregnant woman [lit. the two-souled one], at times a brief fever ariseth, and at times it seemeth as though the whole body [were] like fire
