To remain free from external disease, one must observe the following rules:
1. In the summer, bathe in river or spring water, and in the winter, in the bathhouse [*baghnis*].
2. Change clothes at least once a week.
3. To remain safe from the bloody stomach-ache [dysentery], do not eat unripe fruits, especially in hot weather.
4. In order that choking [nausea/heartburn] or difficulty of breathing may not occur, the windows or doors must be opened four times a day, especially in the autumn and winter.
5. The yard must be kept clean; in the mornings, after feeding the livestock and the chickens, it must be swept.
6. To be preserved from being affected by the smell of coal-fumes [*gortslu hot* / carbon monoxide], they must not cover the chimney [*bukhar*] until the fire has completely settled, and they should look carefully to ensure that no half-burned coal-ends remain.
7. To guard against being seized by the cold, when it is necessary to go outside in cold weather, one must rub tallow [*chragu*] or oil on the nose, the temples, the ears, [and] the fingers and toes, and also dress warmly.
8. To remain protected from pleurisy [*kurtzk‘i khēt‘k‘*] and sore throat, if [the clothes] become wet from rain, they must be changed quickly; and if the wet clothes have remained on the body for a long time, [they must] remove the clothes and rub grain [*hats‘i*] or common *aragh* [spirits] over the entire body, have [the patient] drink hot tea, and make [them] eat plenty of fresh onion or radish so that perspiration may be opened.
9. To remain free from inflammation of the lungs [pneumonia] or inflammatory fever, on hot days when the body is boiling [sweating/overheated], especially [after] working in the fields, and in the winter [after] much work...
