Take sourdough the size of a walnut, spread [it] upon a cloth, and sprinkle over it half a miskal of blistering-powder; pat [it] down with the hand so that it adheres well. Then, wherever you wish to apply [it], rub a little vinegar and place [the plaster] upon it; let it remain for 8 hours or until the skin blisters. Afterwards, remove the skin and apply butter three times a day with a cloth until it heals.
