A few ready-made remedies against common illnesses: *Absinthium*, in Latin; *Ôshindr* [Wormwood], in Armenian; a bitter-tasting herb. It is useful for stomach pain, indigestion, intermittent fever [lit. *trembling that comes between*], and gout [or joint-pain]. It opens the appetite; it kills roundworms in the belly. Boil from two *msxal*s up to six *msxal*s in seventy *msxal*s of water, strain [it], divide [it] into two portions, and have [the patient] drink it in the morning and at eventide. *Atramentum*, L.; *T‘anak‘* [Ink], Arm.; *Feruamentum*, blue ink; *T‘uēramentum*, red ink. *Albumen ovi*, L.; *Dzuí spitakuc‘* [Egg white], Arm. If the whites of two eggs and one spoonful of water are beaten together with a spoon until it froths, and given to drink to one poisoned by copper rust [verdigris] (*dełatsin*), it will cure [him] immediately. If a little alum (*shib*) is mixed into it, spread upon shredded linen, and applied to the eye several times a day, or applied at night upon an aching eye and a swelling of the eyelid, it is of great benefit. *Aqua phagadaenica nigra*, L., is black wash. Useful for the Gallic sore (*shankr* [chancre]); let shredded linen be moistened in this and applied three times a day upon the private part. *Aqua phagadaenica flava*, L., this too possesses the virtue of the above-mentioned remedy. *Aqua ophthalmica*, L. It is a blue water, in which if linen is soaked and applied upon the eyes, and changed whenever it dries, or if the eyes are washed with it, it is useful for eye-pain [ophthalmia]. *Aqua saturni*, L.; *Archchi jur* [Lead-water], Arm. It is a white water, very useful for eye-pain, contusions, swelling, inflamed wounds, and Gallic (*at‘ēshak* [syphilitic]) tumors.
