Father-in-law *agha*, [as] you love your life, Go today, bring carpenters, To make a cradle for your lad, Put [him] in it, sing [him] a lullaby. Mistress mother-in-law, rise up quickly, Go, fetch a sieve with leather-thongs, For I must sift soil for my husband; Evening has come, to put [it] under him. Evening has come, [the time for] lighting lamps; Let me put my little husband in [his] cradle. I have no brave youth [of a husband] to lay down a bed for, To converse sweetly with through the long night. The night is dark, the mountains [are wrapped in] fog; I have a husband [who is a] tender babe. From night until dawn he whines and buzzes; One’s ears ring with annoyance. This evening is the eve of Sunday; I have a husband [who is like a] chick of a hen. He peeps and squeaks, he clucks; Take [him] to the barn, let him eat grain.
