Anguish fell upon the heart of K‘urd Baron, He arose, fell upon his knees, [And] said: "Forty jars of gold have I, I make a vow to the Cross of Karos, [That] I may stand [safe] within my fortress. Forty fighting water-buffaloes have I, I make a vow to the Cross of Karos, [That] the boy may stand by the cradle. Forty barren heifers have I, I make a vow to the Cross of Karos, [That] the Khanum may stand within her chamber. Forty head of prime sheep have I, I make a vow to the Cross of Karos, [That] my fortress may stand upon its foundation. Forty plows work in the field, Those too [shall be] an offering to the Cross of Karos, [That] the horse too may stand within the stable. Forty herds graze in the field, Those too [shall be] an offering to the Cross of Karos, [That] the milk too may stand within the copper cauldron." I shall be a servant to the Cross of Karos.
