Then she runs and comes to Simon Peter and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and says to them: "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and I do not know where they have laid Him." Peter and the other disciple went out and were coming to the tomb. Both were running together; and the other disciple ran ahead faster than Peter and arrived first at the tomb. And stooping down, he sees that the linen cloths were lying there, yet he did not go in. Then Simon Peter also came, following him, and entered into the tomb; and he sees the linen cloths lying there, and the facecloth that had been on His head was not lying with the [other] linen cloths, but folded up separately in a place by itself. Then the other disciple also went in, who had arrived first at the tomb; and he saw and believed. For they did not yet know the Scripture, that He must rise from the dead. The disciples went away again to their own [companions]. But Mary stood outside weeping by the tomb; and as she wept, she stooped down [to look] into the tomb, and sees two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. And they say to her: "Woman, why are you weeping?" She says to them: "Because they have taken away the Lord..."
