Concerning the fifth day of Creation, and concerning the fifth age, and on the holy Apostles of Christ: Thursday.

[Thursday] The Word, radiating from the Father, commanded on the fifth day to bring forth from the waters species of leaping [creatures] and winged [beings] of the air; and in the fifth age, ancient Israel was baptized in the cloud and in the sea. Let us render honor and glory to the Worker of wonders, to the uncreated Word! Purely prefigured [are] the Apostles of Christ, who from the Sea of Tiberias were called unto heavenly things; they crossed over the worldly sea and were baptized in the Spirit. Let us render [honor and glory] to the Worker of wonders... Unto boundless joys, unto the incorruptible bridal feast, the Father of glory sent you as summoners of the sorrowful. Beseech [Him] that we may be fellow-rejoicers with you in that holy bridal feast. Let us [render]... O renewers of the universe from the forefather's [fall]...
