Concerning the fifth day of Creation, and concerning the fifth age, and on the holy Apostles of Christ: Thursday.

[Thursday.] The Word, having beamed forth from the Father, on the fifth day commands the kinds of leaping [creatures] to spring forth from the waters, and the winged [creatures] of the air. Then, in the fifth age, ancient Israel is baptized in the cloud and in the sea. Let us give honor and glory to the Worker of wonders, the uncreated Word! Purely is it prefigured for the Apostles of Christ, who from the Sea of Tiberias were called unto heavenly things. They passed through the worldly sea and were baptized in the Spirit. Let us give [honor and glory] to the Worker of wonders! Unto the boundless joys, unto the incorruptible wedding feast, the Father of glory sent you forth, O inviters of the sorrowful. Entreat that we may be fellow-dancers with you at that holy wedding! Let us give [honor and glory...]! O renewers of the universe from the Forefather’s [ancient corruption...]
