The day of light, suffering together with You, was darkened for three hours; Shining forth at the ninth [hour] as the shadow of death was fulfilled. O Torch of light, greatly radiant, You commended Your Spirit unto the Father; Direct us on the path together with You into heaven by Your Spirit. The underworld trembled; the bound spirits were loosed; The rocks were torn asunder by You, the Rock; the dead arose from the tombs; The elements of the earth were shaken, and the pillars of the world trembled. Having drunk [of Your grace], let us beseech You, that we may be numbered among the righteous. You showed forth wonders then; have mercy also upon us now. Our wasted nature was restored to health by You; grant that we too may be free of pain. In exchange for Your life-giving death, preserve us alive, O beneficent Lord; We beseech You with the thief: Remember us on the dreadful day.
