RUBRIC: [For the Feast of] the Presentation of the Lord [to the Temple] (Tēarnəndaṙaǰ).

Today the elder Simeon came by the Spirit into the temple, appearing greater than the Cherubim; for He upon whom they, soaring on their wings, dared not gaze because of [His] awesome glory, this one, lifting [Him] into his arms, kissed boldly and caressed as a child; and beseeching, he prayed to be released in peace. Unoriginate Word, God, in the last days You deigned to become man from the Virgin; and You, Creator of the ages, were enclosed within time. Holy Lord of holies and in no need of purifications, You came to the temple as a forty-day-old [child and] fulfilled the righteousness of the Law. Wherefore, Simeon, lifting You—the Uncontainable—into his arms, prayed: "You Who are the releaser of the bound, release me in peace." Therefore, together with the elder Simeon, we cry aloud to You, Lord: Holy, holy, holy, Lord of hosts, heaven and earth are full of Your glory, unto salvation for us; Christ God, glory to You.
