[He] saw in a vision the likeness of the Father in the form of Adam, seated upon the throne of glory; who, gathering the multitude of stones like flowers, fashioned crowns in place of the thorns and the reed; and mingled his martyr's blood with the salvific blood of Christ that flowed from [His] side. Wherefore, exalted in glory more than all the saints, he entreats from the Giver-on-high, for us also, the gifts of endless life and great mercy. Chosen from the womb, Saint Stephen; chosen from the womb, Saint Stephen, true witness of the apostolic preachings; who prayed over the lawless stone-throwers unto Christ God, saying: "Do not hold this sin against them." Now, through his intercession, grant us, O Lord, Your great mercy.
