For he hath given his angels charge concerning thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. In their arms they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the asp and the basilisk, and trample underfoot the lion and the dragon. Because he hath set his hope on me, I will deliver him; I will overshadow him, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will hear him; I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him, and glorify him; with length of days will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation. Unto thee, O Lord, have I lifted up mine eyes, [thou] that dwellest in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants [look] unto the hand of their master, and as the eyes of a handmaid unto the hand of her mistress, even so our eyes [look] unto thee, O Lord our God, until thou have mercy upon us.
