Speak in your hearts; repent upon your beds. Offer sacrifices of righteousness, and hope in the Lord. Many were saying, “Who will show us the goodness of the Lord?” The light of your countenance has been marked upon us, and you have given gladness to our hearts. From the fruit of their wheat, wine, and oil you have filled them. In peace at once we shall sleep and awake, for you, Lord, alone have established us to dwell in your hope. Lord, rebuke me not in your fury, and chasten me not in your wrath. Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am weak; heal my soul, for my bones are troubled. My soul is exceedingly troubled; and you, Lord—how long? Turn, Lord, and deliver my soul; save me, Lord, according to your mercy. For there is no one who remembers you in death, or who will confess to you in the underworld [*džoxkʿ* / Hades]. I am weary in my groaning; every night I washed my couch, and with my tears I drenched my bed. My eye is troubled from indignation, and I have grown worn out among all my enemies.
