They regarded me like a lion prepared for prey, and like a young lion crouching in ambush. Arise, O Lord, confront them and thwart them; deliver my soul from the impious by the sword and from the hand of the enemy. O Lord, destroy them from the earth; divide and thwart them in their life. With your hidden [treasures] their bellies were filled; they were sated with food, and left the remainder to their children. As for me, in righteousness I shall appear before your face, and I shall be satisfied in the appearance of your glory. Judge me, O God, and vindicate me in my trial. From a nation that is not holy, from the deceitful and sinful man, deliver me. You, O God, are my strengthener; why have you forgotten me? Why do I go mourning while the enemy oppresses [me]? Send forth, O Lord, your light and your truth, that they may lead me and bring me to your holy mountain and to your tabernacles. I will go in before the altar of God, unto God, who gladdens my youth. I will give thanks to you in praise, O God, my God.
