Grant us, O Lord, in [this] night Thy heavenly peace, and preserve us from the deceptions of the enemy by the all-conquering power of Thy Holy Cross. O Lord God of my salvation, I have cried by day, and in the night before Thee. Let my prayer enter before Thee, O Lord; incline Thine ear unto my supplication. May a guardian from Thee come unto us, O Lord, and preserve us at all times. Send unto us, O Lord, the power of the Holy Cross, which shall preserve us at all times. Vouchsafe, O Lord, [that we may pass] this evening in peace, and bring us through without temptation. Make us worthy, O Lord, [to pass] this night in peace, preserving us without sin. God is with us: understand, O ye nations, and be vanquished, for God is with us! And hear this, from the ends unto the ends of the earth: [for God is with us!] And ye who are waxen mighty, be vanquished: [for God is with us!] And though ye should prevail again, ye shall again be brought to defeat: [for God is with us!] And whatever counsel ye take,
