Look with love, O compassionate Father, upon the works created by Thy hands, and grant the hosts of angels as a guardian unto us, the weak; deliver [our] souls from the temptations of demons prowling in darkness; so that by day and by night we may render Thee unceasing glory. Uncreated [and] unoriginate offspring of the Existing One, ineffable Son and Word, who madest the day for work and the night for the rest of sleep; grant unto us, while the eyes of the body slumber, to be watchful in the spirit; so that [by day and by night we may render Thee unceasing glory]. Spring of rational souls, fountain of light, distributor of graces; at the closing of the natural gates of [our] bodies, give light to the eyes of our hearts, to rise early in the night unto Thee [and] to sing praise with the fiery [angels]; so that [by day and by night we may render Thee unceasing glory].
