By these divine gifts, let Satan be put to shame; let [his] machinations be broken apart; let the snares be removed; let those who wage battle be defeated; let the sharp-edged weapons fail; let the mist be driven away; let the darkness be dispersed; let the dense fog depart; let thine arm overshadow [us] and thy right hand seal [us]. Son of the living God, blessed in all [things], unsearchable offspring of the awesome Father, for whom nothing is impossible: at the dawning of the shadowless rays of the mercy of your glory, sins melt away, demons are driven off, transgressions are blotted out, bonds are severed, chains are shattered, the dead are brought forth to life, blows are healed, wounds are made whole, corruptions are removed, sorrows give way, sighs retreat, darkness flees, the mist departs, the fog is driven back, the gloom is dispelled, the twilight is consumed, the obscurity vanishes, the night passes away, anguish is exiled, evils vanish, [and] despairs are banished.
