RUBRIC: Instruction regarding the calendar and perpetual tables

Take the Armenian era [year] in whichever year you may be, from the forthcoming table here which is set across two pages; and find in the row of that date the year-letter (*taregir*) of the same year, in whose row is set in capital letter alone the Dominical Letter (*eōtʿnereak*), the Epact (*veradir*), and the Solar Sign (*tanutēr*). And proceeding from here to that perpetual table which is contained across three pairs of pages, you will find there the same year-letter, which is set in capital letter according to the order of the alphabet; and in its row, you will find in the first box the day of the Theophany (*Yaytnutʿiwn*), in the second, the intervening non-fasting period (*miǰocʿ owtikʿ*); and in this order you shall proceed until the day of the Eve (*barekendan*) of the Theophany. For example: the date of this upcoming year is 1297 [1848 AD], and the year-letter is *NY* [ՆՅ], which you will find there in the second table; and in the boxes of that same row, you will find readily at hand the day of the Theophany, which is Friday; and the intervening non-fasting period, which is 10 days; and the Eve of the Fast of the Catechumens (*Aṙaǰaworacʿ barekendan*), which is January 15; and everything else according to the above-written instruction until the day of the Eve of the Theophany.
