England, France, Russia, and Rome came to the aid of the Greeks in order to grant them their freedom; on account of which there also arose a severe war between the Russians and the Turks. In the days of these upheavals and wars, the ambassadors of each of the allied states who were in Constantinople, by command of the Sultan and in accordance with the force of the treaties, departed [and] left from there, selling off their possessions together with those who were under their protection. 138. Lord Yovhannēs VIII of Karbi: In his days, the Emperor of the Russians, Nicholas Pavlovich, went to Holy Ēǰmiacin; and an imperial decree was [issued] concerning the brotherhood, and the administration, and the possessions, and the election of the Catholicoi...
